We graded 7 pop/push traffic networks based on real production data: 975,329 traffic events across 21,389 unique zones, analyzed by a 13-layer bot detection engine. No surveys. No opinions. Just data.
Each network receives a letter grade based on its bot zone rate, the presence of gold (Trusted) zones, and the overall quality of traffic it delivers to media buyers.
The Report Card
| Network | Grade | Bot Zone Rate | Zones | Gold Zones | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| HilltopAds | A- | 9.4% | 864 | 0 | Cleanest. Premium CPM justified. |
| ZeroPark | B- | 34.5% | 13,812 | 0 | Huge volume, moderate bots. |
| RollerAds | C+ | 44.6% | 2,426 | 45 | Only gold. Needs blocklist. |
| ReachEffect | C- | 48.7% | 423 | 0 | Nearly half bots. Small pool. |
| PopCash | D+ | 53.6% | 530 | 0 | Majority bots. Needs heavy filtering. |
| PopAds | D | 62.2% | 2,837 | 0 | Cheap, but 62% waste without filtering. |
| TrafficNomads | F | 65.5% | 252 | 0 | Worst rate. High CPM. Avoid. |
Network-by-Network Analysis
HilltopAds: Grade A- (9.4% Bot Rate)
The cleanest pop network we tested by a large margin. Only 81 out of 864 zones were blocked. The A- (instead of A) reflects two things: no gold zones detected yet (the data set may be too small), and the premium CPM ($1.50-$3.00) means you pay more per impression.
Best for: CPA campaigns where conversion rate reliability matters more than volume. Testing new offers where you need clean traffic to isolate variables.

ZeroPark: Grade B- (34.5% Bot Rate)
The largest network in our dataset with 13,812 zones. The 34.5% bot rate is below the 39.4% average, which is decent for the volume. ZeroPark's main advantage is scale -- if you need to reach a huge number of zones for broad campaigns, they have the inventory.
The catch: ZeroPark charges $2.00-$3.00 CPM, which is premium pricing without premium quality. The effective CPM for real humans is approximately $3.05-$4.58 after accounting for bot waste. That is expensive.
Best for: Large-scale campaigns where you need maximum zone diversity. Pair with zone blocklists to bring effective bot rate well below 15%.
RollerAds: Grade C+ (44.6% Bot Rate)
The grade is a C+ -- nearly half the zones are bots. But the "+" is significant: RollerAds is the only network where we found gold zones. 45 zones earned Trusted status. This means RollerAds has a genuine high-quality segment within its inventory, something no other network demonstrated.
Best for: Media buyers willing to run a discovery-then-whitelist strategy. Start broad, filter aggressively, scale the gold. At $0.50-$1.00 CPM, the cleaned traffic is extremely cost-effective.
Deep dive: RollerAds: 44.6% Bots But the Only Network With Gold
ReachEffect: Grade C- (48.7% Bot Rate)
Nearly half of ReachEffect's 423 zones are blocked. The smaller inventory means less opportunity for zone discovery compared to larger networks. No gold zones detected.
Best for: Testing only if you have specific geo or vertical requirements that other networks cannot serve. Always run with a blocklist.
PopCash: Grade D+ (53.6% Bot Rate)
A majority of PopCash zones (284 out of 530) are confirmed bots. The small inventory and high bot rate make it difficult to find clean zones in volume.
Best for: Supplementary inventory when primary networks are maxed out. Requires aggressive filtering to be usable.
PopAds: Grade D (62.2% Bot Rate)
PopAds has the second-highest bot rate and zero gold zones. But it gets a D instead of an F because of one thing: price. At $0.50 CPM, PopAds with a PureGuard blocklist delivers real human traffic at approximately $0.56 effective CPM -- the cheapest real human pop traffic available.
Best for: Arbitrage campaigns where every cent of CPM matters. Must be paired with zone blocklists -- running PopAds unfiltered means 62% waste.
Deep dive: Why PopAds Has 62% Bot Zones
TrafficNomads: Grade F (65.5% Bot Rate)
The worst bot rate in our analysis, combined with a relatively high CPM ($3.00+) and only 252 zones in our dataset. Two-thirds of zones are bots, there are no gold zones, and you are paying premium prices for the privilege. The effective CPM for real humans exceeds $8.69.
Best for: Nothing we can recommend based on this data. Even with aggressive filtering, the small inventory and high base CPM make the economics unfavorable.
The Cost Comparison
Here is what each network really costs when you account for bot waste:
| Network | Headline CPM | Bot Rate | Effective CPM (Unfiltered) | Effective CPM (With Blocklist) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| PopAds | $0.50 | 62.2% | $1.32 | $0.56 |
| RollerAds | $0.75 | 44.6% | $1.35 | $0.83 |
| PopCash | $0.60 | 53.6% | $1.29 | $0.67 |
| ReachEffect | $1.00 | 48.7% | $1.95 | $1.11 |
| HilltopAds | $2.00 | 9.4% | $2.21 | $2.06 |
| ZeroPark | $2.50 | 34.5% | $3.82 | $2.78 |
| TrafficNomads | $3.00 | 65.5% | $8.70 | $3.33 |
The "Effective CPM (With Blocklist)" column assumes PureGuard zone blocklists reduce bot rates to approximately 5-10% residual (from neutral zones with insufficient data). The improvement is most dramatic for the dirtiest networks.
Recommendations by Use Case
For Arbitrage (Buy Low, Monetize via Smartlinks)
- PopAds + PureGuard blocklist. Cheapest real human traffic at ~$0.56 effective CPM. High effort (heavy filtering needed), highest margin.
- RollerAds + whitelist strategy. Gold zones deliver nearly 100% human traffic. Build a whitelist over 2 weeks, then scale it.
For CPA (Direct Offers, Lead Gen, Dating)
- HilltopAds. Cleanest traffic, most reliable conversion rates. Worth the CPM premium when you need predictable funnel performance.
- RollerAds gold zones. If you already have a whitelist of gold zones from a discovery phase, these deliver CPA-quality traffic at pop traffic prices.
For Scale (Maximum Volume)
- ZeroPark + blocklist. 13,812 zones -- more inventory than all other networks combined. The 34.5% bot rate drops below 10% with filtering.
- RollerAds + PopAds combined. Run both networks with PureGuard blocklists for maximum geo and zone coverage at low CPMs.
Networks to Avoid
- TrafficNomads: 65.5% bots + $3.00 CPM = $8.70 effective CPM. Uneconomic for any use case.
- Any unfiltered campaign on PopAds or PopCash: Spending over 50% on bots is throwing money away. Always run with a blocklist.
There is no perfect pop network. There is only the right network for your use case, paired with the right filtering. The data decides.
